Will the kit come with ownership documentation?

DFKC will supply a Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin (MCO) with your kit after it is paid in full & you've requested it.

The MCO will prove your ownership of the kit. It will include a serial number that matches an engraved serial number plate attached to your chassis. You can locate this plate on the bar behind where the drivers seat goes.

This document is not a title. In most states you will use the MCO to obtain a title when you go to register the car.

Some more info on the MCO: So far we haven't heard of our customers running into this but apparently some DMV offices will look at the date on the MCO and try to charge penalties for not registering within 30 days of purchase. Obviously with a kit you can't register as a car until it is built so being charged penalties is nuts. So our normal procedure has been to wait until you request the MCO so that the date can be closer to the registration date. I'm pretty sure that even if they tried to charge penalties you could easily defend the stance that it was a kit car that was impossible to register up until that point.
