How does the kit process work?

Kit Process

The short version is just three steps: buy a donor, buy a kit and build the Goblin. Here’s the longer version:

  1. Obtain a donor car
    1. Most builders get the donor car from a salvage auction
    2. You’ll need a whole donor to get all of the pieces you need
  2. Order a Goblin kit
    1. The best way to order is on our website: http://dfkitcar.com/order.php
    2. Your Goblin order needs to match the donor you are using (base, SS/SC or SS/TC)
  3. Strip your donor
    1. Harvest all of the pieces you’ll need from your donor: http://dfkitcar.com/files/detailed-donor-part-list.pdf
  4. Pick up or receive your Goblin kit
    1. Most builders make a road trip to pick up their Goblin kit
    2. Kits that aren’t picked up have to ship by freight or hotshot delivery
    3. We can only do hotshot delivery if there is another kit or two headed your way
    4. If the kit is shipped by freight there is a $400 crating fee
  5. Build your Goblin kit
    1. You’ll use the pieces from your donor and the Goblin kit to build your car
  6. Register with your state
    1. Registration varies by state but in general you have to prove ownership of the kit and donor car and pass an inspection.
